Chris Olsen desired nothing but the best for his wife Michelle, and he had his sights set on establishing a happy family in Lehi, Utah with her and with Monte, their lively puppy, serving as the “first member” of the Olsen family.
One evening, Chris and Michelle decided to take their dog with them to the supermarket. However, an unexpectedly surprising event occurred.
They lost control of the truck they were driving after accidentally hitting a patch of black ice. The crash was so severe that the truck smacked a wall, flipped a number of times, and spun like a toy.
Chris was so astonished and puzzled at the time that he did not know if he was dreaming or if it was actually happening. He was desperate to convince himself that it was all a nightmare.
Quickly realizing that he had no choice but to confront reality, he stood up, searched for his wife, and discovered that she was unconscious. The upper part of her body was outside the vehicle, while the lower half was still inside.
Chris and his wife were taken to the hospital, and everyone in the ambulance hoped that they would make it there in time. At that moment, Chris was not concerned with his bruises and wounds or even their broken vehicle. His only thought was to see his wife alive.
He also gave up hope that his dog, Monte, would survive the collision as he didn’t see Monte anywhere.
As he was being bandaged in the hospital, he waited for good news that his wife would survive. She didn’t.
Chris was still profoundly stunned and surprised by what he had just heard. But as the awful news began to sink in, Chris received additional shocking news. Monte had survived the crash – something he never expected to hear that day. But the poor dog was still missing, as he was not found in the wreckage. Rescuers believe he fled the scene in absolute shock.
With this fantastic news, Chris’s buddies immediately went to work. Using the influence of social media, they disseminated information about the missing puppy, and thousands of people assisted them by sharing the post. The residents of Utah County also went out to look for Monte, and six days later, he was discovered just miles away from the accident.
When Chris believed that he had lost everything, his dog gave him unexpected hope. Monte would be a great example that every tragedy is not an end in itself, but rather a beginning to something.
