Edee Grun is a retiree who lives in Alabama with her daughter and a grandson named Zye Tipton. She moved in with them after she and her husband divorced and had nowhere else to go. To make matters worse, she was diagnosed with cancer and had gone through months of intense treatments.
With many burdens weighing her down, Edee was always stressed and sad. Her grandson noticed this, and it got him worried. He wanted to make her grandma feel better, and one of his ideas was to get her a constant companion.
Abused
Zye’s idea was to go to the local shelter and adopt a dog to cheer up her grandmother. There he met Handsome.
The two-year-old pit bull was found abandoned in a dumpster. He was riddled with old and new injuries and had a tightly tied barbed wire around his neck. It also tethered the poor pooch to a post, and every slight movement he made caused him pain.
He was brought to the local shelter, where he got treated. Vets said Handsome was most likely used as a bait dog. His extensive injuries proved this.
By the time Zye met the sweet dog, he was already on his way to fully mending. What attracted the young man to the dog was his loving character. Despite his violent past, handsome was affectionate and loved to cuddle.
Lifesaver
As soon as Edee met Handsome, she knew he would love the canine forever. The dog immediately climbed up her lap and stayed there for a long time. Both needed love and were more than happy to give it to each other. Ever since that first meeting, the two became inseparable.
Edee said having Handsome around changed her life completely. The dog helped her get through the darkest and most horrible period in her life. She found a reason to live once again, and her days are now happier.
