Dogs tend to get too curious about the world. Sometimes, their curiosity gets out of hand, especially when they decide to wander off alone.
A black Lab mix service dog named Lola went missing one day. Her handler with epilepsy named Debra can’t believe she ran away because Lola has always been calm and loyal.
Lola was last seen in Illinois when Debra was vising their friends. The service dog was on her break time when she was let out in the fenced backyard. It was then that Lola had the opportunity to escape.
Debra spent every weekend looking for Lola until their vacation in Illinois ended. Now that she is already back in Michigan, she never stopped looking for Lola. She even joined some lost and found dog groups online, most especially those that are Illinois based. She also flies to Illinois every weekend in the hopes of finding Lola.
Together with Debra’s husband, Steven, they continued to search for Lola in every possible way. And every effort they throw at looking for the lost dog is only responded with frustrations as they got home empty-handed.
Soon enough, Steven and Debra finally accepted that Lola is gone. The constant traveling took a toll on Debra’s health. It was hard for Debra to accept the reality not only because she’s her service dog, but Lola is already a part of their family.
Eventually, the couple was able to move on. They opened their home again to another dog and named it Maddox.
Three years after the fateful day in Illinois, Debra got a call from a microchip company saying Lola was found in DuPage County, Illinois. She couldn’t believe what she’s hearing at first. She started crying and shaking because at long last Lola was found.
After hearing the good news, Debra immediately processed everything so she can take Lola back. Not long, they finally got reunited, and Lola met her brother Maddox whom she got along pretty quickly.
