A 69-year-old California retiree named David Deshon was reported missing by her daughter, Shona, when he didn’t return to his home after going out with his dogs. Rescue officers found him lying in a snow bank after two days of searching. He was already dead. His five-year-old pet, Baby Dog, was lying across his seemingly, seemingly trying to keep his owner warm.
When the rescuers tried to get near David’s body, the loyal pooch barked and snarled, preventing them from coming near. To the very end, he wanted to protect his owner. His faithfulness captured the hearts of numerous people.
Frozen
Shona believes that his dad’s car got stuck in a snowstorm, and he tried to hike back to his home. But the cold weather most likely exhausted his body, and it gave up. David dropped dead merely 100 yards away from his neighbor’s house. The senior man was with his two dogs at that time.
His other pet, Buddy, went to the neighbor’s house and started barking and pawing at their door. The neighbor recognized the pooch and called the authorities. That is when they found David and Baby Dog together.
The protective pooch ferociously guarded his owner’s remains. They had to find someone that the canine trusted so they could get him away from his owner. Both dogs were then taken to the local shelter.
A new family
When the story broke, people sympathized with Shona and the canines, most especially Baby Dog. He was probably devastated and needed to get out of the shelter. Help soon started to pour in. Someone even paid for their adoption fees so they could move on to a new family.
Shona said because of her work schedule, she couldn’t take care of both her dad’s pets. But she hoped they would go to a good home and be loved like before. Her wish became true through her neighbor, Lisa Someli.
Lisa and her husband learned about the story and were touched by Baby Dog’s actions. She wanted to get a companion for her sick mother, and they thought the loyal pooch would be perfect. They quickly filed for adoption.
Baby Dog is still heartbroken about losing his dad, but he now has a new mom who will love and spoil him.
