Brady Oliveira volunteered at K9 Advocates Manitoba, Canada’s local animal rescue shelter. One day, heading home, he saw two dogs run underneath a couch near the garbage bins. Brady immediately stopped his car and went closer to inspect the situation.
Rescue operation
As Brady approached the dirty couch, three puppies and their mom came running out as if they knew they were being rescued. Brady was shocked to see the dogs living in such horrible conditions in the middle of winter.
Brady knocked on the house’s front door, but unfortunately, no one answered. Since the dogs were malnourished and poorly cared for, Brady had the right to take them.
Brady took the dogs individually and placed them in a kennel in his car. As Brady was taking one last look to see if he got all the pups, he heard a soft growl coming from underneath the house.
Hazel, a brown-coated pup, was hiding from Brady, clearly scared of humans. Luckily, Brady found some dog treats in his car, which helped him lure Hazel to safety.
Journey to forever home
Brady took all the dogs to the animal shelter, where foster families were waiting. As he was about to leave, he couldn’t stop thinking about Hazel and decided to foster her.
Hazel was timid as she first arrived in her new home. Brady introduced her to his other dogs, Nellie and Gunnar, who soon became her friends.
It didn’t take long before Hazel became comfortable and transitioned into a more confident and playful pup. Brady took Hazel with him everywhere he went and treated her like a part of the family.
After two months, Brady saw Hazel’s progress and decided she was finally ready to find her forever home. Fortunately, Kallee, Brady’s sister, shared the same love for the puppy, so she chose to adopt her.
