Rescuers Eldad and Loreta of the charitable institution Hope For Paws just rescued two dogs from the Los Angeles River and were ready to head back home when they spotted a little white dog. They knew right away they had to stop and investigate. And to their surprise, they found out it was a homeless momma dog with puppies.
The rescuers followed the pup until it hid under a shipping container. They checked to see if they’d be able to get them out but instantly figured out they weren’t equipped to rescue the dogs. And so, they left and brought the two dogs they rescued to the hospital first, dropped by the shelter to get the tools they needed, and then drove back to the rescue site.
It took three hours for the rescue partners to get back to the location and they worried the dogs weren’t there anymore. Fortunately enough, the pups were still there. Because according to the people who lived nearby, that’s where the furry family lived.
The momma dog chose a perfect hiding spot for her puppies. She, however, didn’t realize the danger it posed to her and her little ones. It was imperative to get them out so the rescuers wasted no time.
Loreta reached one of the puppies first and as soon as she got it, the mom followed. She placed them in a crate and then continued to get the next puppy out. Armed with the right equipment, she managed to get the second and the third puppy safely.
While the rescuers thought their work was done, Eldad realized there were four instead of three puppies. And so, he went ahead and rescued the last one. Before leaving, he did another sweep to make sure no one was left behind.
The mom, Candy, and her puppies, Hershey, Licorice, Bubblegum, and Skittles enjoyed a warm bath at the hospital. They were surprisingly healthy and didn’t have to stay long so they continued to their foster home the following morning. And within a few weeks, they all made great progress.
Once the puppies were weaned, the furry family began their search for their new homes. And thanks to their rescue and foster friends, they all found their perfect matches in no time.
