A woman named Paula Peek was volunteering at a shelter one day when she witnessed something that broke her heart.
When Paula went to collect puppies that had been given to the shelter, she noticed a small dog. She observed that the dog was unable to walk and that the staff were ready to put him to sleep.
Paula stated almost immediately that she would not take the puppies if she was not permitted to take the adult dog home. She gave the dog the name Weeble, and that was the start of everything.
Weeble learned by himself how to walk and run quickly over time. Paula was so pleased with herself for proving everyone wrong.
Paula acknowledged the significant impact she had on the dog. There was an urgent need for more individuals like her who will care for dogs and puppies in need.
Paula began taking in more pets that were in need of care. The majority have experienced trauma due to abuse or abandonment. One time, she had exactly 20 dogs, all of which had particular requirements.
Without her, the likelihood that these dogs would be adopted was low. Paula adored each of her rescues for their individual histories and personalities.
It requires a great deal of affection to care for 20 dogs. Paula has to wake up extra early each morning to feed, medicate, and settle all the dogs before leaving for work. When she returns home, she goes back to do the same procedure.
All of her dogs make her feel safe and cherished. They helped her recognize that everyone has hope.
Because they are instantly rejected by almost all potential adopters, not everyone is aware that these dogs have the capacity to improve themselves or live longer lives. That is why Paula has a golden heart for devoting her life to protecting these abandoned dogs.
