When we see dogs sitting outside business establishments, we immediately conclude that their owners are inside the building. We approach these pups to say hi and give them a gentle pat on the head. After a brief conversation, we let them go back to waiting for their fur parents.
This was far from what a passerby experienced when he approached an American Eskimo Dog sitting outside a meat store in China’s Jilin Province. The pup looked like it was stolen and the woman wanted to take a closer look at him. To her surprise, the pup reached out its paw and gave her “puppy dog eyes.” From the looks of it, he was begging to be rescued.
A cry for help
The woman wasted no time in saving the frightened pup. As it turns out, the fluff ball’s owner wasn’t inside the meat shop. The sad truth was, he was actually waiting to be butchered. Whoever owned the shop was going to slaughter him and sell his meat.
The pup didn’t want to die, but he was also afraid to ask for help from strangers. He was probably worried that they would want to kill him too.
Perhaps there was something about the woman’s energy that moved him to ask for help from her. He hesitated at first, but after a few more tries, he finally mustered up enough courage to beg her to save him.
Another shot at life
Aside from giving the pup another chance in life, she also gave him a forever home. She fondly calls him “Yuan Yuan,” and they’ve been living happily since the day she became his fur parent. She also called on the authorities to pass laws that would protect the rights of these poor animals. Watch how Yuan Yuan reached out to her on the video below:
