Ping An, a one-year-old Golden Retriever, or ‘safe and sound, lived with her owners in eastern China’s Qidong City. As the family renovated their home in June, they asked a friend to look after their pet. They then drove over 100 kilometers, or 62 miles, from their residence for over two hours to drop off the little Golden Retriever at their friend’s house in Nantong.
Four months later, when Ping An’s owners were finally ready to take her back home, they discovered their dog had escaped from her temporary keeper and was reportedly missing. The family did not know that their loyal puppy went on a strenuous solo trek to return to them.
One day, a group of workers found and rescued Ping An outside an office building. She was noticeably skinny and injured with bleeding paws as she had walked over 62 miles for 14 days. According to the rescuers, she also looked somewhat depressed, maybe for failing to find her owners.
The employees then took photos of the Golden Retriever lying on the road. She appeared malnourished and was also in sorrow with her head down. Pictures of her got posted on social media and circulated online to the point that they reached her owners. On that same day, the Chinese family who identified their unfortunate pooch rushed to pick her up from the site.
When Ping An and her family finally reunited after four months, another heart-touching video again went viral. In the video, the canines are so happy when they have their group hug. More so, viewers could hear Ping An’s owners telling her that she had worked so hard that from there on, she would stay at home and never get sent away from them.
