Jessica Kincheloe is a pet groomer from Tennessee who was asked to help a neglected Great Pyrenees. The neighbor of the dog’s owner called her up and told her about this one particular dog that has thick matted hair. His owner is terminally ill and has not been able to care for the dog for quite a while.
35 pounds
Jessica agreed to help out. She brought along a fellow groomer, and the both of them went to see the dog. They went inside a barn where the Great Pyrenees was staying. To get inside his stall, they had to clear a huge mound of dirt and waste that blocked the door.
One looked at the pooch, later renamed Lazarus, and they knew that no one has cared for him for a very long time. First, they had to take him out of the barn and clean him up. The fur, along with all the dirt trapped in it, has been causing a lot of pain and discomfort to Lazarus.
Then for an hour or so, they carefully sheered off the heavy coat. They had to be very careful as the process could cause pain. The dog was a bit wary at the start, but when he felt better with the burdensome fur being taken away, he started relaxing.n
When they were done. approximately 35 pounds of hair was removed.
Relief
As soon as the heavy baggage was off his body, Lazarus started walking around. It was a simple activity that he hasn’t been able to do for a while. It was easy to see that he felt relieved after his grooming.
Because his owner couldn’t care for him, Lazarus was taken in by a nonprofit rescue group and given to a foster home. He will stay there until he has readjusted to a normal life. When he is ready, he will be found a more permanent living situation.
