Houdini the dog initially appeared at the Port of San Pedro two years ago, and the rescue organization Hope For Paws was alerted about him. They dispatched rescuers to assist the dog, but he was so elusive that they were unable to catch him. Even animal control officers were unable to do this.
Houdini is still a stray two years later. However, Eldad Hagar, the rescue group’s lead rescuer, was determined that they would do everything to assure Houdini’s safety.
Eldad made the decision to capture the dog. He and his team went to the port and watched the dog. The port’s security personnel even volunteered their assistance. They’ve been feeding the dog and want to be certain that it’s safe.
Houdini, on the other hand, couldn’t be captured with only that. As a result, the rescue crew has decided to return shortly and devise a better plan.
The next day, some personnel from another rescue organization, Rescue From The Hart, joined the Hope For Paws team. They collaborated to secure the area where the dog was normally found, utilizing makeshift fences and nets. They immediately went after Houdini, but it began to rain, and the dog simply vanished.
The teams returned the next day with a new strategy and even more individuals to assist them. Houdini was waiting for them when they came, as though he was waiting to see what they would do next.
One of the volunteers chased the dog as the teams figured out their strategy. Houdini bolted towards Eldad. Eldad was fortunate that he was quick to respond and was able to snag Houdini with his net. Another volunteer arrived shortly with a net, which she wrapped around the dog to keep it from running away.
Houdini had not had human interaction in a long time and was scared to be surrounded by people. When one of the security officers, Mike, walked over and sat down with him, he began to relax. After putting him in a container, the rescuers returned home.
Eldad reassured Houdini that he would be safe with them. The dog gradually warmed up to his rescuer’s touch.
Houdini went to Rescue From The Hart after he was spayed. His new animal buddies there taught him about the power of love. Houdini is finally in good hands after two years of eluding people.
