The owner of a liveaboard catamaran anchored in the Manatee Pocket made a desperate appeal to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) to save his dog after he had to be hospitalized for possible COVID-19. He contacted the MCSO and indicated that, owing to the dog’s illness, he was forced to leave his beloved German Shepherd alone on the boat.
The Marine Unit of the MCSO and Animal Services Officers devised a plan to ensure the safety of the officers while entering the boat and rescuing the animal.
The team wore full PPE and proceeded to the vessel, where they boarded and located the dog.
The animal was removed from the boat and brought back to the shore. The Department of Animal Services subsequently sent the dog to a shelter, where he will remain until his owner recovers. A terrific crew committed to completing the assignment regardless of the circumstances showed an outstanding effort.
You guys are amazing! If I were in that patient’s position, I would be inconsolable. Thank you for really taking such excellent care of man’s best friend and for putting that patient at ease during such a difficult moment.
There were others who said that they were delighted that the dog also got the help that it needed. Others have donated assistance in the form of dog food donations, and virtually everyone has wished her owner a swift recovery.
Some individuals consider their pet to be a child. Our thoughts and prayers are with the hospitalized gentlemen. He desired only the best for his dog friend!
This dog was fortunate in that she received help when she required it. Many other creatures are not as fortunate and are also in desperate need of aid. This pandemic has made it incredibly challenging for animal shelters around the world to assist as many of these abandoned animals as possible.
The German Shepherd received much-needed affection and love.
People must be reminded as often as possible that they cannot receive the coronavirus from their dog or cat; therefore, there is no reason to get rid of your pet if you fear contracting the virus from it.
