13-year-old Wade Harrell and his two buddies, Tyler Cancienne and Brayden Mauroner, were biking through the countryside when they came upon a dog lying still by the road. These residents of Acadia Parish, Louisiana quickly stopped their bicycles and looked to see whether the dog was still alive.
As they approached the injured dog, they observed that his head and eyes were in motion. It seemed likely that he was struck by an automobile and rendered unable to stand or walk. Worried that he might be struck by another speeding car, the three cyclists built a wall around the dog by inverting their bikes.
Afterward, Wade contacted the animal rescue organization Haseya’s New Beginning Animal Rescue for assistance.
The charity group’s rescuers hurried to the scene and praised the youngsters for summoning them. After evaluating the dog’s condition, they determined that he still had a chance of survival. The rescuers used a blanket as a hammock to transport the medium-sized dog into their car. The group then returned to their shelter, where the dog could receive treatment and recover in comfort.
A veterinarian examined the injured dog and determined that he had suffered a hip injury. In addition to being hungry and dehydrated, he lacked energy. They administered pain medicine, food and drink, and a comfy bed to the injured dog before making any more decisions about his care.
Initially, they believed the dog to be a stray and intended to name him Wade, after the youngster who contacted them. Nevertheless, after sharing the dog’s photo on social media, a family called the shelter to report that the dog belonged to them and had been missing for approximately a week. His name is Taz, and they are overjoyed to have located him.
The animal shelter and Taz’s family are appreciative that Wade and his buddies located the dog. If it had been other children, they may have simply ignored him.
