The portrayal of cats and dogs on television is not always positive. However, what we see on television is not always true in real life. Lucy, a Golden Retriever, and Joey, a cat, are proof of this.
But before Lucy and Joey became friends, there was awkwardness between them. Their owner, Katie Quibb, said that Lucy, for the longest time, was her only pet. One day, Katie thought of adopting a cat to become Lucy’s companion whenever she was not around.
Katie visited a local animal shelter to look for a potential cat to adopt, which Lucy did not have knowledge of. When Katie went home with the new cat, Lucy did not expect what she saw. While awkward at first, Katie understood the situation.
The fur mom knew it would be a challenging transition for both Lucy and Joey. This is why the pet owner took it slowly. It did not take long before the dog and cat become accustomed to the presence of each other.
The awkwardness vanished right away as the dog gently approached the kitten. During that time, Katie was filming the heartwarming interaction between the two.
It was a cute interaction that even the fur mom found very genuine. According to Katie, she did not expect Lucy’s reaction. She admitted that she had fears because Lucy was independent for too long.
But fortunately, Katie’s fears were proven wrong as the big dog was very gentle to the kitten. The relationship between Lucy and Joey began to blossom day after day.
The fur mom shared that she would see the two hang out as if they were siblings. Both Lucy and Joey enjoy the company of each other despite their differences. For Katie, the relationship between the two dispels the notion that dogs and cats are mortal enemies.
