A man named Peter Koska was traveling to work when he spotted a car engulfed in flames. It was parked right in front of an apartment building in Dedham, Massachusetts, and the man observed three dogs trapped inside.
As soon as Peter noticed that no one was attempting to assist them, he stopped his car and hurried to free them. At any moment, the truck could explode, but he didn’t care. All that actually mattered to him right at that moment was getting the dogs to safety.
Fortunately, the car’s doors were unlocked, which benefited the dogs. The hood was ablaze, but the fire had not yet spread to the cabin yet.
When the door was finally opened, two dogs bolted out, but the third was too terrified to leave. Peter was required to dive inside to reach the frightened dog.
Peter, realizing that the dogs might flee, attempted to return to the truck to get their leashes. But before he could get them, the engine exploded. The brave man fled immediately, and so did one of the dogs.
With the assistance of the residents of the area, they were able to capture the runaway dog and keep everyone at a safe distance. The fire was promptly doused by arriving firefighters before it could cause further damage.
The vehicle belonged to a pet sitter. She was inside the building getting another dog when the fire started. The source of the fire was unknown, although authorities believe it was most likely a mechanical malfunction.
The dog sitter was so appreciative of Peter’s assistance, and so were the owners of the pets. They were relieved to hear that their dogs were unharmed and hailed the courageous man as a hero for rescuing them.
We are really very fortunate to have men like Peter around. Great job, Peter!
