In Singapore, a concerned person named Ying found a puppy lying in a ditch. She was so weak that she could not move. She was soaked in drain water, and there were fleas and ticks all over her. Ying took her to the nearest vet clinic.
The vet explained that she was half-starved. She was so weak because she probably hadn’t eaten in days. They gave her a medicated bath to remove her fleas. She was so hungry that she ate up her first meal within minutes.
Her condition was not just a matter of hunger and fleas. When her blood tests came back, the results showed that she had various infections and diseases. Ying was told not to get his hopes up. The vet predicted that she might not make it the next morning.
However, Ying still hoped that the puppy would survive. He brought her home with him and named her Rosie.
Rosie must have felt that she had someone to live for because she survived the first night. She was still quite weak to stand up on the second day, but she showed signs of fighting for her life. Before the end of the week, she grew more lively and even had the strength to lift her head and smile.
Heartened but this improvement, Ying and his family did not give up. They regularly monitored her and gave her whatever she needed.
Rosie had weak leg muscles and could not stand up on her own. She showed signs, though, that she wanted to get up and get moving. They put her through constant exercise and water therapy. Before they knew it, she was walking on her own.
There were happy cheers and laughter at the sight of Rosie walking independently. Soon she was running full speed and had boundless energy. She could play fetch and chase things that caught her fancy.
Who could have guessed that a puppy who was so close to death would be so intelligent and sweet? Ying was so glad he made the decision to stop and help her on that fateful day.
