Dog Helps Deliver Groceries To A Sick Senior Neighbor

Dog Helps Deliver Groceries To A Sick Senior Neighbor

Robert Billy June 30, 2024

The coronavirus pandemic we are now all faced with has caused unimaginable fears and grief in humanity. The unseen enemy strikes virtually all age groups, but the older ones bear the brunt of the disease. Medical professionals strictly recommend them to isolate.
The problem is that they can only sometimes eat fresh food. Consuming canned goods and processed food is unhealthy, so fresh food shopping is necessary.

fruit seller, fruit stand, vendor

Stories of older people dying of coronavirus with no history of contact with people or trips to other places except for groceries are harrowing. These give us one powerful message for the above-fifties group: confinement at home. Younger volunteers or online shoppers can buy groceries.
A concerned neighbor of Renee Hellman, a 71-year-old resident of Colorado, found an ingenious way of keeping her glued at home. Karen Evelth includes Renee’s daily grocery list when she goes shopping. With her is her seven-month-old golden retriever named Sundance.
Eveleth considers her beloved pooch a hero. She has had back pains, and when she drops things, Sundance is always there to assist her. This doggie also gets Karen’s mail from the mailbox, which she leaves unlocked.
Sundance has two siblings, but it is his role to pick up things that fall and turn them over to Evelth. To this dedicated dog, carrying Renee’s groceries in her mouth to her porch is a piece of cake. The tasks are nothing new to him, and he enjoys serving and cheering a neighbor they consider family.
Hellman has COPD, a disease that affects the respiratory system. With Sundance around, surviving in the age of coronavirus is less of a struggle. Like this diligent doggo, we must make life easier for others in these trying times.
