If you’ve been a dog owner your entire life, it’s hard to imagine what life would be like without your beloved pet. However, have you ever imagined what would happen to your pet in case you pass away first?
Many elderly dog owners often think about the future of their pet dogs when they pass away. Sadly, most of these dogs go to animal shelters. It would be a traumatizing experience for these animals since they suddenly end up losing their homes and get placed in a noisy and stressful environment.
A Chihuahua mix named Jax was loved by his elderly owner. Unfortunately, Jax’s owner was in a coma and was staying in the hospital’s intensive care unit. Jax had no one caring for him.
Fortunately, a nurse caring for Jax’s owner named Kimberly Still learned about Jax from her patient’s family. Kimberly realized that Jax was her patient’s constant companion in her last years and has been together until the end.
The elderly woman’s family didn’t want to take Jax and would likely end up in an animal shelter. Kimberly thought that it seemed unfair that Jax would end up all alone in an animal shelter after his owner passes away, which is exactly what happened.
After Jax’s owner passed, he was sent to an animal shelter outside Atlanta where there was a high chance that he would be euthanized. Thankfully, Kimberly decided to track him down and get him out of the animal shelter.
Although Kimberly first planned on just fostering Jax until she finds a loving forever home for him, she realized that she could never let Jax go. Kimberly fell in love with Jax as soon as she met him and decided that Jax is hers forever.
Thanks to Kimberly’s compassionate heart, Jax was able to find a new family to love and care for him. Here’s a video featuring Jax’s story.
