Most people don’t usually go for senior dogs whenever they are thinking about adopting a pooch. Many believe that getting a senior dog would just be too troublesome, but this is not always the case. One great example that proves that senior dogs can still be loving pets is this senior rescue dog named Mufasa.
This adorable furball used to be a stray, and he had been living in a water treatment facility in California for quite some time. Fortunately, one of the employees at the plant who spotted him is also a subscriber of Hope for Paws on Youtube. So she called the California-based animal rescue group to save the stray doggo.
When Hope for Paws arrived at the plant, they had to be extra careful. The pooch was near a water tank, and the last thing they would want was for the pupper to jump into the water. So to calm him down and earn his trust, they tossed pieces of a cheeseburger towards him.
While his colleagues fed the pooch from a distance, Eldad Hagar, the rescue group’s founder, climbed up the water tank platform to ensnare the doggo from behind. Once Eldad had the gentle snare around the pup, the doggo wiggled around for a bit. But because he was too malnourished, the doggo didn’t put up much of a fight.
Not long after, Eldad was able to pet the pupper, and they placed a leash around his neck. At this point, they named him Mufasa. The pupper rode with Eldad on the way to their headquarters, and it seemed the Mufasa started to become more playful towards him. The pooch let his rescuer pet him, and he would even lick Eldad’s hand.
Mufasa was given a nice shower, some food, and water, once they arrived at the Hope for Paws headquarters. He was also neutered and given medicine for his ear infection and intestinal parasites.
The next day, Lionel’s Legacy Senior Dog Rescue came to collect Mufasa as they volunteered to foster him. Lionel’s Legacy is a California-based rescue group focused on finding homes for senior dogs, but when they met Mufasa, he behaved as if he was a puppy! The pooch demanded belly rubs from everyone and it seemed that he did not want them to stop.
