Animal Aid Unlimited in India received a notification about a street dog that was in need of medical help. Quickly, the dispatch team sent out a group of medical rescuers to find the dog. When they made it to the site, they saw Tigger curled up on the street, completely motionless.
The responders approached the dog and offered him some biscuits to try and gain his trust. They let him finish the treats and waited until he felt comfortable having them around. It was important to keep him calm so they tried their best not to spook him away.
Tigger didn’t seem scared of humans. He let the rescuers touch him. But when they tried to lift him up, he felt frightened and walked away.
To make sure they get the dog to safety, the rescue team decided to use a net to capture him. A few moments later, they secured him and took him straight to their hospital.
The dog’s skin was crusty and rough, and the vets revealed he had an advanced case of mange. He had open wounds at the back of his neck. His paws were also sore because of his skin disease.
The vet team immediately applied medicated cream to soften the dog’s skin and remove the scabs. They also gave him medicated baths every week. He hated it, but it was crucial for his recovery.
Tigger’s healing process was a long journey. It took him quite a while before actually he felt much better. Every little achievement he made took lots of courage and determination. But this resilient dog proved that while his capacity to endure pain was vast, his ability to feel join is even bigger.
About a month since his rescue, Tigger looked completely different. His skin healed and his tiger-striped fur grew back in. He became a joyful dog, and he turned out to a handsome boy.
