Wrigley, a Labrador retriever, found Macy, a dog that fell into a sinkhole in Illinois. She disappeared for nearly 24 hours. Thankfully, Wrigley was able to find the dog and bark loudly enough to alert his owner.
Rescuers then came and saved Macy from the sinkhole. They also brought the dog to a veterinarian, who determined that she was safe and well. Dogs are lovable creatures.
They can be cute and fuzzy, or they can be ferocious. They are one of the most interesting animals on the planet. They are also incredibly affectionate, loyal, and brave creatures.
They are very smart and listen very well to their owner. If a person is in danger and cannot get help, a dog will do it for them. Many search-and-rescue dogs looked for survivors after the 9/11 attack on the World Trade Center in New York City in 2001.
These dogs were able to find people alive under all of the rubble left from the buildings. Some of these people owe very their lives to the dogs that found them in time. Dogs also help humans by being bomb detectors.
Many police departments use dogs to sniff out bombs or illegal drugs before they endanger people’s lives. Other dogs go into battle with soldiers to help find the enemy and keep everyone safe by detecting bombs around their base or vehicles they use every day. Dogs also rescue other animals because they feel sorry for them.
If you have a dog and another animal is in danger, your dog will jump in to save it. A dog will hear the cries for help and dive into the water to save the drowning animal. If your dog sees an animal about to get run over by a car, it will bark loudly to warn you about it.
