A forest is not a place where a puppy should be. Yet sometimes, some are found in such a place because they get dumped there.
A dog rescuer named Elisa recalls her experience spending days just to save a small puppy in a forest.
Even though Elisa was dealing with a small dog, it didn’t make the rescue mission easier. The puppy was fearful and would run away at the sight of any person. Furthermore, it started to snow, so she had to act fast before the snow completely engulfed the area.
Elisa decided to visit the puppy every day so it could get used to her presence. But no matter how much food she gave it or how friendly she acted, the puppy never approached her. Finally, she decided to speed up the process by setting up a trap.
After an hour and a half of waiting, the puppy finally walked inside the trap. When Elisa approached to pick it up, it was shaking in fear. She then proceeded to bring it to her vehicle, transporting it to an animal shelter.
Elise found out that the puppy was a girl and named her Willow. Upon arriving at the shelter, the puppy was confused and evaded all human touch. Since Willow didn’t know how to interact, Elise introduced her to other puppies.
Once Willow mingled with other puppies, she quickly learned to trust. It didn’t take long for Willow to find a forever home after that. Elise felt a deep sense of accomplishment and relief once Willow got adopted. Elise said the experience felt like she helped a person graduate.
Elise demonstrated patience and dedication during her mission to save Willow. Other rescuers might have used a trap immediately or chased the puppy until it got tired. Elise’s method leaned more towards kindness and compassion than anything else.
